This weekend we were ready to lay Hawkeye to rest in a lovely blue pot with a handsome skimmia, as I’ve mentioned in the gardening blog. In time he’ll probably move into one of the flower beds.
We had a photo session with the girls last night and I just about managed to get pictures of all of them, despite their best efforts. I keep thinking I should write a post about how not to photograph rats, I get so many terrible photos! Anyway, I got these good ones:

Ragweed again – “Everybody loves Hypno-rat!”
And again, when she decided to hide under a cushion:

This afternoon we’ll be cleaning the cages out and putting Pinch and Bitesize in with the big group. There are two reasons for this. The first is that they are still in the single level cage which Hawkeye needed to be in because of his mobility issues but of course they don’t need to be there any more, and having more space will be good for them. The Explorer is easily big enough for nine rats, and having more to do will be good for them.
The second reason is that if we leave them as they are and one of them dies the other will be alone, and that may make it harder for them to join a group of seven. With two of them, they will still have each other while they integrate and this will make it easier in the long run.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
